Chloe Carlson
Adult Contemporary/Modern
Chloe Carlson loves to share her lifelong passion for dance through teaching, choreographing and performing, currently via her project-based vehicle, GUSTO Dance. Chloe has performed in numerous venues in the northeast, both in her own and in other choreographers’ work. She has been teaching for over 20 years, including at Metamorphosis Dance Company, Hartt School Community Division, Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, The Ethel Walker School, The Hartford Conservatory and Elm City Dance Collective. Dance has been a through line of Chloe’s life, including at her undergraduate alma mater, Mount Holyoke College. Her unconventional dance path sprouted a detour for awhile as she attended UCONN School of Law and practiced law before diving headlong into dance at the age of 40. She has had the great fortune of training with many brilliant, generous teachers and is honored to have served on the Board of David Dorfman Dance for many years, including as President. She loves helping to implement DDD’s mission to “get the whole world dancing.” Chloe believes dance should be everywhere and for everyone, and has performed or taught in highway rest areas, ocean sand bars, a sculpture garden, the town green and sidewalks. She pursues dance as an invaluable spiritual, physical, mental and emotional practice. Chloe invites others to join her in cultivating joy, empowerment, resilience and community through dancing. Currently, she is smitten with incorporating audience interaction in performance, and with providing movement opportunities to underserved populations. Let’s dance!
