Performance at First Church of Stamford

The First Congregational Church of Stamford

Ekklesia will be performing as part of the Sunday service at the First Congregational Church of Stamford. Ekklesia will be performing our beloved pieces Psalm 84, Linked, and Lament. In addition to the performance of these works, Ekklesia will be leading a Moving Dialogue, which is a time when Artistic Director Elisa Schroth will lead the congregation through movement exercises that aim to help each person connect more with their own individual bodies, as well as with the collective body of the community. Join us as we join the First Congregational Church of Stamford to help further their mission to cultivate inclusive communities of faith, hope, and love. 
The service with the performance will be Sunday, September 29th at 10:30 am, at 655 Stillwater Rd, Stamford CT. Come join if you are able!

Episcopal Church Convention

Ekklesia is honored to be invited to dance at The Episcopal Church's Annual Convention! We will be performing a beloved work, Global Housewarming Party, which is an exciting and lively piece with music composed by Middletown composer Peter van Siclen and choreography by Elisa Schroth.

Ahavah: The Story of Christmas has become a Christmas tradition for the Shoreline Community for over a decade, and ECB is excited to bring this tradition to the Middletown community. Taking you back in time to experience the astonishing true story behind Christmas, Ahavah is a delight for the whole family. The joy and enchantment of the season are palpable in this telling of a timeless story. Ekklesia Contemporary Ballet and Ekklesia School of Ballet join together once more to present Ahavah.

All the proceeds from the ballet are donated to the local soup kitchen!

Living Stories Tour

February 6-8, 2025
Syracuse University

A collaborative performance of live music, poetry and dance bringing the stories of displaced youth to life.

Ekklesia Contemporary Ballet is creating a new work with the Cuatro Puntos Ensemble and Narratio, a refugee youth organization that supports creative expression for displaced populations. Fellows from the Narratio Fellowship Program will be telling their stories through poetry set to music by Iraqi composer Ameen Mokdad and visualized through choreography by ECB Artistic Director Elisa Schroth.

The Gala is Ekklesia Ballet’s most important fundraising event of the year. This event not only launches brilliant artistic works, but also supports valuable education and community engagement initiatives in our city. This event is open to the public and is for ages 18 years and older. Ekklesia Contemporary Ballet is a non-profit 501c3 organization. All donations are tax deductible and will go into furthering our Mission!

The Bushnell Performing Arts Center

“Uncaged: Illuminating female Afghan Artists through music and dance” is a project inspired by original artwork created by women working secretly within Afghanistan.

A new 25 minute ballet score has been commissioned from UK composer Sadie Harrison to be performed by the US Cuatro Puntos Ensemble and Ekklesia Contemporary Ballet Company with choreography by Elisa Schroth. The work is based on 5 artworks, which have been procured from within Afghanistan with the help of the Belfast charity Beyond Skin. The project is a multimedia celebration of an extraordinarily rich culture with dancers, artists, poets and musicians of the highest caliber, and it will be premiered on April 13, 2025 at The Bushnell Theater.
