Jacob Shoup

Ballet 5A-10, Modern, Pas de Deux/Variations, Ballet 1 & 2

Jacob Shoup grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, studying at the University of Akron’s Dance Institute, studying ballet and jazz but his dance education seriously jump-started at Interlochen Arts Academy in the latter half of his high school career. There he performed a lush variety of roles, including the lead in the premiere of Christopher Williams’ Afternoon of a Faun and Johnny in Paul Taylor’s Company B. Upon graduating, Jacob pursued higher education through Butler University, eventually receiving a BA in Dance Pedagogy. At Butler, he danced soloist roles in The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty, in the premiere of Patrick de Bana’s Falling Sky, and in student run showcases where his choreography was also featured. Over the summers, he has worked with Neos Dance Theatre performing in the Hienz Poll Festivals that he grew up watching, and has also attended Peridance’s Blueprint Summer intensive. In recent years he has taken up choreography, creating dances for weddings, for school sponsored performances, and simply for fun! He has also gotten into writing in his spare time, often drawing inspiration for movement from words, and words from movement. He is excited to start his first season at Ekklesia Contemporary Ballet this summer.
